I've always been a huge fan of Christina's Cafe on Atlantic and Federal. I've gone for years, and it's one of my favorite restaurants in South Florida. So when Christina told me she was opening up another restaurant nearby, I couldn't wait to try it out. The Gyro Joint is her new fast-casual restaurant on Cypress Road, just south of Atlantic Blvd (near the Pompano Beach City Hall). If you plan on ordering a gyro, say it right or you'll be informed (nicely) of the correct pronunciation (yee-ro). This place definitely has a different feel than her other restaurant, which is more of a sit-down, white tablecloth establishment. But here, you order at the counter, and they bring your food to you when it's ready. Unlike Christina's Cafe, where the credit card minimum is $15, there is no minimum here. Her staff is still new (they just opened this week), but they are all friendly and fast. Everything is homemade and fresh, and her tzatziki sauce that I love so very much (seriously, it's addictive) is made at Christina's Cafe each morning and brought over to this location. Since today was my first visit, I decided to try something other than my usual tzatziki and pita order, so I chose the crispy cheese pie and the dolmades. The cheese pie is made with a flaky crust and resembles a stuffed pizza, except it's just cheese inside. It was much bigger than I was expecting, so I would recommend splitting it. The dolmades were excellent, and come with a bit of hummus as well - you can choose spicy or regular hummus... I opted for spicy, and they aren't kidding about it packing some heat. My meal was delicious and quick, and I can't wait to try some of her sandwiches as well. Yelp's version of Foursquare's "mayor" title is "duke" or "duchess", depending on the reviewer's gender, and it's given to the person who frequents a location the most. I'm the duchess of Christina's Cafe (and have been for years), so I fully expect to earn duchess status here before you know it :)

This is one of the best gyros I've ever had. It was so fresh and delicious that my husband liked it and he doesn't even like lamb. The owners were super friendly and actually greek. The fries were thick and seasoned really well. The hummus was also homemade and delicious. If you are looking for a low key greek meal, I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely great food. A little on the pricey side however the gyro is huge and has alot of meat in it. Just opened so not to busy yet so hurry up and go try it out before the line is long.

Visited the gyro joint yesterday on recommendation of my cousin who's been raving about the gyros and french fries forever. Decided to go for dinner and we all really enjoyed the freshness of the food. Everything is made to order so it does take some time but again it's fresh so no big deal. Order the gyro with extra sauce on it, you wont be disappointed. French fries are also good! The owner is also very nice and we chatted for a bit. We will be back soon!

Came across this place on yelp while working in the area. I was in search for something on the healthier side so I decided on a chicken wheat pita. The quality of the chicken was great and the flavors were all on point. My only gripe was the price, it was $8.99 plus the $.50 up charge for the wheat pita totaling over $10. That's a little on the pricey side for lunch. Either way if ur anywhere in the area and looking for a gyro this place does not disappoint.

By far the BEST gyro I've ever had! So fresh, so delicious, so outstanding!!!! Where ever your favorite place is, it doesn't hold a flame to this place. I promise.

This place is awesome.....I'm hooked on their Greek burger oooohhh so good with loads of Tzatziki sauce, now that's the magic sauce!!!! $!!%%. Very friendly staff, place is always clean and free Wi-fi! Also love the gyro, but it's not just lamb, there's chicken, pork, Beiftecki (Greek meatball), Tilapia, etc. In love with this place. Great food...happy life!

When I first moved here a year ago, this restaurant had great service, great food and great prices. In the past year they have raised the price for a gyro and fries to over $3 the original price, the service is horrible and the food quality has decreased dramatically. I called in an order on 9/18 and had to wait 25 minutes for it after being told it would be ready in 10 minutes, the service was horrible, the fries undercooked and the gyro was much smaller then it has ever been. Needless to say I will never go back! I

I cannot say enough good stuff about this place. Very clean, airy dining room. Gyros is a real deal lamb and portions are solid. Greek meatballs are also outstanding.

Being from Chicago, I was always looking for a Gyro anywhere near as good as the old football size Gyros we got in Greek Town. I finally found the place. Authentic, fresh and delicious. Go eat there now.

I have ordered take out and have dined in and every time the food has been great and the service is good. The pita can be on whole wheat for an extra 50 cents and the chicken pita/gyro is yum! The macaroni salad is tasty but the fries with the seasoning are fantastic. The location is a little nondescript strip and its spacious and clean on the inside. Craving fresh tasty Greek food...go here!

Christina's Cafe is gone for now but this is her "down scale" version of that restaurant. I have to say everything is freshly made and their open kitchen is nice to watch as they prepare your food. The environment is sparse but clean and reminds me very much of a diner setup minus the booths. The part that actually bothers me is eating with cheap plastic forks and spoons and when we asked for plates we received tiny styrofoam plates that didn't even fit the food on them. This was despite the fact there were normal plates right in front of the waiter. Go for the food but set your understanding that the dining "experience" leaves a little to be desired.

Great service! Cristina was friendly and made us feel right at home. I had the falafel pita which was fresh and her tzatziki sauce was delicious. I also asked for hummus which was the best I've had. My boyfriend had the gyro pita which was delicious as well!! Even the fries were really good and crispy. Definitely will be coming back!!

Very nice clean place! Had the chicken gyro and it was delicious! Service was fast and friendly and prices seemed fair.

Let me start by saying I love a great Gyro and The Gyro Joint hits it out of the park! I don't give out 5-stars ever but food, simplicity and cleanliness was exceeded. I had the lamb Gyro combo that comes with homemade fries and soft drink for $9. You can get macaroni salad, coleslaw, o-rings or fries with the combo. They also offer many different types of Greek food as well. The lamb meat was fresh and had a nice outer crispiness with a tender center, same is true with the Pita. Pita was heated on hot flat top and nice crisp and also was soft in the middle, delicious! Standard Gyro comes with homemade taziki sauce, raw onion, toms and lamb. It was spot on and I ate every last bite, I had messy fingers and a big smile on my face! Gyrovillle is garbage next to Gyro Joint! To top it of the restaurant is warm, super clean and has very friendly staff, it's privately owned and operated by owner Pascal who is Greek! Go figure a Greek owner, perfect :). He said everything is made from scratch in his kitchen. He gave me a sample of his humus and it was great, you can tell he takes pride in what he does. If your looking for a "real" gyro from a dedicated owner who cares please stop by, I will be back for sure!!

Gyro was great. Kids had a meatball sub that was also delicious. Service was very friendly. Met the owner Christina who was also very friendly. The baklava was amazing!!!!!

Absolutely the best gyro pita in SE Florida. Blows high priced joints like Trata and Greek Taverna away. The atmosphere is pedestrian but the gyro and price can't be beat. The fries were awesome. I do have to bug the owner to get malt vinegar though...LOL Check it out it is amazing!!!

  • Colleen C.

The gyros and spinach pie were delicious! The prices were great for the portion that is served. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very helpful. The restaurant is lacking a bit of ambiance, but the quality of the food definitely makes up for it.

Food was awesome! Get the gyro pita! The tzatziki is to die for:) everything from the crispy fries to the creamy hummus was great! The service was top notch! They ran out of calamari, that was the only (if any) comment we could make that was less than stellar. Would highly recommend and would return whenever we are in the area.

I'm a falafel addict and the falafel pita here is excellent! It's a little hole in the wall, but clean and the food is delicious. Service was spotty at the beginning, but that seems to have worked itself out. I'll definitely be back.

Really clean, brand new with a passionate owner. The kind of owner that makes the cook want to deck her with a can of Heinz because she's backseat-cooking over his shoulder. So in other words, the best kind of cafe owner. Just to set the record straight ('cause I don't like customers getting BS'd), aside from the tzatziki and the hummus, almost everything they currently serve is commercially pre-made. Yes the dolmades come from a can. The gyro cone comes from a box. But you know what? They do it perfectly. It's like a dirty water dog in NY. You don't care that it's not homemade. It tastes good. Hell, it tastes great. I tell you what. She opens a few more of these and the doner kebab madness that the Brits have just might take a foothold here too.

I always try and find a good Gyro place and never seem to be satisfied. I was pleasantly surprised by Gyro Joint. The food is good and the fries are killer. I never write reviews but this place is worth it. The only down side is that they are bit slow if you eat in but pick up is always on time.

The food was excellent! I had the lamb gyro and it was the best I've ever had. You really have to look for this place to find it. It won't be that way long, once the word gets out, this place will be packed

Nowadays this place is my savior when I want something fast. I'm live within a mile so it's extremely convenient for me but if it was further I'd still make the drive on a regular basis. Everything on the menu is delicious, although I'm not a huge fan of the feta fries or pork pita. However everything else from the gyros to the falafel to the hummus is extremely fresh and extremely tasty. I wasn't sure of is like the salmon pita or not but it turned ot to be one of my favorites. I'd recommend this spot to anyone.

Excellent gyros, served piping hot and delicious! Second time visiting and still very satisfied with the food. The baklava was awesome too. The whole place was nice and clean and the service is good. I'll definitely be back.

Very nice inside! Fast and efficient about getting you your order and everything was cooked well. The food came out looking delicious. The only issue I had was they do not have greek salad dressing and the falafel pita doesn't come with tzatziki sauce. However the spicy hummus that came on the pita was very tasty.

The gyro is really good but everything else is not with my time. The Greek salad, which I love at a Greek restaurant, sucks!

AMAZING!! Tried this place for the first time today.... i will definitely be back. The food is fresh and healthy (not bland...just not processed and over done with salt). The staff are very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is clean. Prices are great!! Definitly a new favorite!

A Local Gem! The gyros are delicious. Veggies and salads are fresh. The Hummus and Tzatziki are homemade and to die for.

We ordered carry out. Large Tv had the soccer game on. It was busy but not many people ate in even though there are plenty of tables. It is new and clean. Service was quick and friendly. The gyros and fries were just what we were looking for and nice and loaded. Happy they moved into the neighborhood. We will be back.

It's ok. Gyro is average. Don't expect to be wowed. I've had a couple of visits. They are consistent. Staff seems friendly. Surprisingly dry.

One of the best gyros I have had. It is a small location and very casual, and they don't have a huge drink selection but the food comes out piping hot and very tasty.

  • Allana W.

Great food! It's true Greek, but super quick and casual. I had the chicken pita with roasted veggies, and my fiancé had the gyro. They were delicious! Made to order on homemade pita bread. The fries were big steak fries, perfectly cooked, and the macaroni salad was delicious. The baklava was amazing! Will be back to this neighborhood spot very soon!

Best greek restaurant in south Florida by far. I had the chicken platter and it was wonderful. The chicken was cook to perfection and was tender plus the tzatziki sauce was homemade. The restaurant was very ckean and the people treated me like family. 10 out of 10 I wil definitely be coming back. I love the painting on the wall it tells the story of how they got here.it really is beautiful. I love bringing my daughter here it is a nice family restaurant. Plus yt? They have great food at the other restaurant calked christina grill. The food is wonderful their too.

  • Jena S.

Great food!!! Really fresh and nice big portion sizes. I had a Greek salad with gyro and my boyfriend had the gyro. He was really impressed. You can tell the food is made to order. Only thing is I would like real plates and silverware for dining in - would make the experience that much better! Anyhow, we will be back!

  • Jesse M.

Excellent! This place is in my neighborhood and it opened about a year ago. I was skeptical for a while, never seeing anyone inside and barely any cars outside, but man is it good! very fresh and tasty. I will be coming back more often and I really wished I had tried it sooner.

  • Alena K.

Wasn't disgusting, but not worth going back. Grilled chicken pita was plain, tzaiki sauce was weird. Charged me an additional dollar for a small spoon full of feta on top of my pita.. Place was clean, lady at the register was nice. This place doesn't compare to Gyroville. I'm Sadi it wasn't better, since I live close. Oh well.

Yum!!! I stopped in for a late lunch in between jobs and I already can't wait to return. I had the traditional gyro with onion rings and a drink. The combo only cost $10! The food was delicious and the two ladies who assisted me were very friendly! I will not hesitate to return for a second! Yummm!!!
